Our compound is now getting fenced. The men showed up later in the evening, stayed with us at the church and then started very early to get things started. Barbed wire first and then the mesh wire followed by bougainvillaea plants which are glorious to see but also have thrones to discourage intruders.   The forms are ready and waiting and all are busy doing the various jobs assigned. Randy has taught them how to do what he wants done and they are eager to learn.  He brought his transit and I can hear the beeping as they check for level  for the grade beams. Swinging around the work area you see the mixing of the cement, the piles that were poured this am (we used plastic pails for the forms – like sona tube)

They are putting in the stakes and checking the level;  cutting the rebar with the grinder;

bending and tying the rebar into stirrups; hammering with Randy’s hammer – the only good one on site!
